Module 2 / Lesson 2.R
Module Reflection – Culture
Articulate your own cultural-thrive profile: what culture helps you thrive and what would actively not work.
This is a text-only reflection lesson – no video. Use the chatbot below to walk through the questions.
Before you focus on what companies want, take time to understand what you need. Remote work varies widely. Some teams value autonomy; others run structured daily routines. Some thrive on documentation; others rely on calls. Some encourage freedom to work from anywhere; others anchor schedules to one region.
The aim of this reflection is to leave the module with a clear, honest picture of which cultures will help you thrive – and which would actively not work for you. Not in the abstract. In specifics.
What you’ll produce
A first-person cultural-thrive profile – around 200-400 words, written in your own voice. It goes on your Remote Readiness dashboard as a self-portrait of the working environment you do your best work in. You’ll find yourself referring back to it any time you’re tempted to apply to a role you already know in your gut isn’t right.
The six questions
Walk through each of these with the chatbot. Take your time on the ones that surprise you.
- Do I prefer clear, documented processes – or flexible, changing environments?
- Do I enjoy deep, quiet work – or do I thrive on frequent interaction?
- What pace of communication suits me? (Async with response windows of hours? Real-time with quick back-and-forth?)
- How much structure helps me stay productive? (Calendar-led? Block-led? Loose?)
- How do I like to receive feedback? (Written? Verbal? Frequent and small? Considered and periodic?)
- What time zones can I work with comfortably? (If overlap with the team is a prerequisite, where does that constrain you?)
What “done” looks like
Your profile is ready when:
- It’s first-person and honest – what’s actually true, not what sounds correct.
- It’s specific – “I do my best work in 90-minute blocks of quiet focus, with check-ins every other day, not every day” beats “I value flexibility.”
- It names what would actively not work – not just what you prefer, but what you’d struggle with.
- It’s in your voice – not a coaching note from the chatbot.
The chatbot below will walk through one question at a time, draw your answer out, and push gently on anything generic. The output is a profile you could read back in six months and still recognise.
