Module 5 / Lesson 5.0

Welcome to Collaboration

Orient to Module 5 and the collaboration artefacts you'll build: a working-preferences statement, an async work sample, a portfolio entry, an ownership story, a results story, and your Collaboration Profile.

Welcome to Module 5: Collaboration.

You may expect to work physically alone as a remote worker, but online it looks different. Work happens in teams. Collaboration is, at its simplest, the art of getting things done with other people – digitally, mostly across time zones, and mostly without anyone watching you do it. That makes it harder than in-office work, and at the same time it makes everything you do more visible. Every decision leaves a trail. Every handoff is documented somewhere. This module is built to help you turn that visibility into an advantage.

What this module covers

Five lessons plus a reflection, each adding evidence to your Remote Readiness dashboard:

  • 5.1 How Remote Teams Actually Work – your working-preferences statement, plus a real example of getting things done with others
  • 5.2 Async in Practice – an async work sample you’d actually send, plus two reframed past examples
  • 5.3 Project Portfolios as Evidence – one curated portfolio entry and a testimonial ask
  • 5.4 Ownership and Accountability – one ownership story, from anywhere in your life
  • 5.5 Talking About Results – a polished STAR+V results story
  • 5.R Collaboration Reflection – your Collaboration Profile, where it all consolidates

The mental model: a relay, not a huddle

Distributed collaboration is a relay, not a huddle. You don’t crowd around a whiteboard. You pass each baton cleanly to someone in a different time zone, who picks it up and runs the next leg. That model changes everything about how you work – and it’s the picture to hold in your head across this whole module.

What’s next

Start with 5.1 when you’re ready. By the end of the module you’ll have a working-preferences statement, an async work sample, a portfolio entry, an ownership story, a STAR+V results story, and your Collaboration Profile.
